The Media Influences Our Children

Posted by admin | Posted in Management | Posted on 05-06-2009

The media influences how our children think and act. Sometimes, they even follow what is seen in a show without thinking that this could be harmful if done

to another person.  This is why movies are given certain ratings and parents should monitor what their children watch at home.

One of the best ways to counteract the negativity of media is to watch with your children what is shown on television. If they have a question, it will be

better if you gave them the correct answer of what a certain words means and if this is appropriate for them to use or not.

If there is something that they don’t understand, you should be the one to explain to them what is happening rather than having them interpret how such

events happened.

Such things should not only happen for shows on television but also the commercials that are shown in between them. As we know, there are certain shows that

promote a variety of products that claim to make a certain task easier even when there are already other gadgets that can do the same job at home.

When this happens, you should just explain to your child that what you are currently using can do the same thing so there is no point in buying a

replacement.

There are also commercials that appeal to children especially if what is featured is a toy. After seeing the commercial, your child will probably want it

since that is what is popular right now. When faced with this situation, ask them if they really want it or is this just a phase.  Tomorrow, next week or

even a month later a new toy will come out so such things come and go so they don’t lose anything when they don’t buy it.

If you are not around that often to watch these shows and commercials with your child, set a time that will allow them to watch television and make sure you

stick with it. That way, they don’t sit on the couch after finishing their homework or during the weekends.

Aside from television, the biggest threat to children these days is the Internet. There have been incidents where some children have been bullied online by

being a member to certain sites and clicking on certain links which lead them to porn sites.

To counter such threats, you should monitor what sites they visit and block them from visiting certain sites. You should also allot a certain time that they

are allowed to go online or put the computer in the living room instead of the bedroom so you can see what sites they are visiting. If you are not home, use

a password so they can only use it when you are around.

Taking the appropriate steps like talking to your child, screening certain shows and sites are the most effective ways available to regulate the amount of

influence that media has over your child.

If your children doesn’t curse or exhibit some inappropriate behavior, you can say you did a good job in raising them but don’t forget that there are other

factors which make them behave badly such as the influence that may also come from their friends. When this happens, you shouldcreen who they interact with

How to Get Your Self-Esteem Back

Posted by admin | Posted in Relationships | Posted on 05-06-2009

Self esteem is something innate. It is something that our parents and friends helped us develop when we were

young and as we grow older, this is still being developed. This means that it can change and if have somehow

lost your way, here are a few things that can help.

First, you have to find out what is causing your self-esteem to go down. There are no gauges or tests for this

but it is pretty obvious when people look at you or when you find the time to look in the mirror.

You simply have to snap out of it because you are only human. We have to accept the fact that we are good in

certain things and poor in others. If you are able to figure that out, you can focus your energy on things you

know you excel in rather than wasting time on trivial matters.

Now there are people who may make fun of your limitations. They may even try to destroy you or take

advantage of this weakness to hurt you so be strong and don’t let these bother you at all. It will even be better

to hang out only with people that accept you for who you are in the same manner that you will accept them

for their limitations.

This leads us to the next phase to get our self esteem back and that is to surround yourself with people you

are comfortable with. You can even take it to the next level by telling them to recognize you for your qualities

because hearing it from other people makes us feel better about ourselves.

You can do this by striking a conversation casually or by requesting for one formally. At work, employees are

appraised every year and this could mean an increase in your salary or even a promotion. If you are vain,

have someone conduct a survey about you and then read the results.

But do you really need someone to tell you your good qualities. Not necessarily because you already know

what they are. Look at your past awards in school and in extra curricular activities. Review what you have

done for the company and just think what would happen if you did not execute your plan or offer your

suggestion.

Will things be different? There is always that possibility so don’t sell yourself short. If ever someone praises

you for doing a good job, accept it and thank them for acknowledging your efforts.

Believe it or not, you could lose your self-esteem if someone made you feel bad and you were drawn to it. This

means that it could have been avoided and the only way that can happen is if you have high self-esteem.

You should probably not have been too affected by what that person said. We all have bad days and that

person probably got it but that must not get into your system. If it does, it is like getting a cold and this will

spread which could also lower morale.

The truth is, you never lost your self-esteem. It was always there. This can even happen to the best of us but if

we are able to overcome it, you will surely be back to your old self.

Successful Entrepreneurs: Can They Make You One of Them?

Posted by Art Basmajian | Posted in Entrepreneur | Posted on 05-06-2009

by Art Basmajian

If you are a novice in an enterprise like Internet marketing, it is a good idea to have someone show you the ropes - perhaps one of those successful entrepreneurs who knows what he or she is talking about. But finding someone who is probably more successful in selling just the idea of success to you, as opposed to any actual, useful, and practical knowledge doesn’t really qualify as teaching.

That is why teaching is - and should always be - a respected career.

The Teacher

Here’s an adage that’s been the source of controversy for many an academe: “Those who can’t do, teach.” If this is true, many argue that it inappropriate simplifies the complexity of the teaching profession and all its inherent skills.

On the other hand, there is also the idea that those who CAN actually do will not make effective teachers. This is because they know their craft so well and use it successfully on a regular basis that it’s almost impossible to teach the same skills to someone else and expect the same results.

Be Cautious

You might have been bombarded with e-mails on how to become one of those to earners. Before you take their word for it, or even delete these messages, here are a few tips to help you decide when you’ve struck gold, or when you’ve just encountered a dud:

1. If you have a history with this guru, look back and analyze to determine if you do have a future together. If not, ask around and see how other students have fared with him.

2. Find out all you need to know about the guy. Research extensively to determine if this person is a credible source for business knowledge.

3. If he is more keen on selling something, rather than actually teaching you something useful, you might want to run the other way. True, no guru can give you a hundred percent guarantee of success, but he should be able to tell you what the odds are of you ever becoming among the successful entrepreneurs elite.

4. When you have found a teacher who is a good fit to what you need and what you can afford (that is to say, one who can explain things in ways that are useful to you), then he has earned your trust enough to build a relationship with him. There are, indeed, successful entrepreneurs out there who are definite keepers, so hold on to them when you do find them. Sooner or later, you will have earned yourself a passage to the exclusive successful entrepreneurs club.

Essential Tips for Effective Business Branding

Posted by admin | Posted in Creativity | Posted on 04-06-2009

When a businessman embark on a new business venture, they readily go processing ideas on complicated marketing strategies and

other ways of promoting their business but none of their efforts are dedicated to business branding. Indeed, with so much

factors coming into play, it is easy to miss out on the most essential and basic aspect. But that is just one half of it,

since the other half is dedicated into ensuring that you can build an effective brand that will produce results for your

marketing efforts.

But the key to an effective branding strategy is to be able to deliver. You must be able to back up your claims and produce

exactly as you say. Majority of your business sales and profits come from repeat customers, after all. An effective business

branding system involves the following:

Customer Satisfaction

Brand is just a mere representation of your company. Therefore, it must reflect exactly what your business can deliver for

the customers and build its reputation from there. If you cannot produce quality product or services, then regardless of how

potent your branding system or strategies are, you’d never be able to turn your marketing campaigns into a sales force.

Therefore, you need to be as sensitive to your customers’ needs as possible. But only to a certain extent that you still hold

control over the image and reputation that you want your brand to exhibit.

Indeed, brand equity is a vital aspect in every business, especially consumer-based equity. It reflects the level of trust

and attitude that a customer has towards a product associated with a given brand. This is impacted by the actual experience

that a consumer has had with the product such that brand loyalty is affected by factors such as perceived quality and the

delivery of the product.

Consistency

One of the most effective ways to build trust amongst your customers is to be consistent with the message you are trying to

convey. Consistency is most important when exhibiting the values that are key and vital in your company. Then, focus on every

aspect of your business to ensure that it remains consistent with the values professed by your company and that they make a

good representation of the company’s vision.

Expanding Your Brand

Creating a brand for your company is not only limited to the creation of a logo. While it is essential, your work does not

stop there. After all, a logo is just a representation of your professional image but there are several factors in between

that would help translate them into sales. You do not even have to spend lots of money to fulfill them. In every form of

communication that you use in your business transactions, include your company logo in it, whether you’d be using business

cards, yellow page ads, newsletters, letterhead, invoices, envelopes, and many more. Your logo is of no use unless you are

able to capitalize on it and make it do its work for you.

Managing Your Brand

As market trends continue to change and evolve, so must your approach at branding strategies. While you set your own

company’s branding standards, you also need to look into exceeding those promises you’ve set and this is one of the most

effective ways to generate more customers. On the other end, one failure could eventually ruin your business’ reputation on a

long haul.

If you see any opportunity where changes can be done or improvements can be executed, then don’t be afraid to execute them.

This is one way for your business to stay on top of things and keep up with changing trends in the market for an effective

business branding effort.

Guaranteeing advertising Results

Posted by Dennis Gartland II | Posted in Marketing | Posted on 03-06-2009

by Dennis Gartland II

You can almost guarantee results from your advertising; it is as much a science as an art.

Is it possible to guarantee results form advertising? If you approach advertising as a science instead of an art results are fairly predictable.

In any case this is just an inquiry for the goods or service. This is real evidence your advertising is working and generating a return on investment.

But, in either case, it is just an Inquiry for the goods, of one sort or another. It is the first practical evidence that the money spent is earning something tangible in return.

The customer may take direct action and order by phone or online. If the customer visits a store there is three times the chance the she will be influenced by competing products. There may be less expensive alternatives or the salesman may earn a higher commission on other products. The copy must stand up to this influence.

The ad which pulls consumers into retail outlets must be as full of influence as profitable mail order advertising. The consumer must be fortified against substitution.

The ad must sufficiently influence the consumer to buy that product or they may go to the retail store and be convinced by the sales clerk to buy the sale item or one in which there is a sales contest. In this case the competition would benefit from our ads. Many proponents of branding, or name recognition are just drawing people into a store to buy substitutes. When Nike started advertising sports sandals Teva’s sales more than tripled.

The ad must give them a better reason to buy our product or service than he is likely to get from the Salesperson for the competitions goods that Salesman will want to substitute. It must give him this reason in such undeniable form that he can comprehend without effort, so absolutely that he will believe our reasoning Claims. It must accomplish this in spite of his natural distrust of all Ads statements. Therefore not more than 1/4 of those who, out of mere curiosity, buy the first package, through “branding” ever buy the 2nd or 3rd consecutive package of the same product. Because they do not buy on Conviction In the Meantime, it usually takes about all the profit in the first purchase of any “branding campaign” to pay the cost of introducing it to the Consumer through Advertising.

In contrast to branding “Reason-Why Advertising” or Salesmanship-on-Paper, results are insured and far more predictable. Consumers need only be convinced one time, through “Reason why advertising” or “Salesmanship- on-paper,” the product or service is best for them and their use.

Because, through General Publicity, his attention had only been “attracted,” not compelled and enduringly impressed with a logical understanding of these qualities. But, when once convinced in advance of purchase, through “Reason-Why” Salesmanship-in- Type, that the qualities claimed for the article do exist in them, he starts using that article with a mental acceptance of these qualities.

Conviction qualities in copy are shown, by test, to be just as necessary in Advertising design to sell goods profitably today, through Retailers to Consumers, as they are to sell goods direct by mail to Consumers. That is why every Advertisement for goods to be sold through Retailers (against substitution, and “Don’t keep-it” influences), should have as much positive selling force, “Reason-why” and conviction in it, as would be necessary to sell the goods by mail direct to Consumers.

Any Advertiser who uses mere “General Publicity” when he might have all that and, in addition, a positive Selling force combined with it is losing 50 percent to 80 per cent of the results he might have had from the same identical appropriation.

The difference in Results from Space in which this direct selling force of “Reason-Why” has been used, and in results from similar space filled with “General Publicity,” is often more than 60 per cent. Conclusive tests on Copy have clearly proved this, and preceding article cites a vivid example of it from actual experience
